About Entity

Now in its tenth season, ENTITY THEATRE e.V. was founded by Danny Strike and Alison Sandford in late 1999 as ENTITY THEATRE WORKSHOP, and after a series of workshops and rehearsals in 2000, the first play was performed in early 2001. ENTITY became a registered society (e.V.) in 2008.

Entity Theatre is regularly invited to perform at FEATS, the competition of anglophone amateur theatre groups in Europe. For more information about the Festival of European Anglophone Theatre Societes go to http://www.feats.eu/

ENTITY is committed to workshop principles – time to develop, experiment, and have fun. Auditions are dispensed with to create an “audition-free zone” because they don’t tell us what we want to know about performers. Are they willing to challenge their own talent? Can they work in a team?

After attending workshops, participants are invited to “commit” to a performance, and then a play is sought that matches the group. Obviously a rehearsal process must also develop acting skills – voice, spatial awareness, scene rhythms, etc. – but ENTITY never loses sight of the workshop process, and actors are encouraged to experiment within the evolving framework. This gives ENTITY its unique dynamics. No one performance is exactly the same as another. Come back and you’ll see what that means.

If you are interested in joining ENTITY in any capacity, please contact a member of the group after the show or send an e-mail to info(at)entitytheatre.com.
